What a long week it has been!! (since the last time I blogged at least). I'm sure you all feel the same way I do..it's the end of September, and just completely and utterly drained! The good news is there are basically 2 months left of school...and a few weeks, but I like to not think about the few extra weeks...the bad news, just when we all start to get into the swing of classes and get use to managing our time, we have to start cramming for midterms and writing midterm papers...oh the joys of college.....
Anyways, what I really came on here to write about is BAD DRIVERS! We as NJ folk, know that anyone who doesn't live in NJ are bad drivers, or so we all tend to think...which yes..could be true..but there are a ton of bad Jersey drivers too. I hate when you're driving and EVERYONE slows to 10-15 mph under the speed limit because of a cop. helllooooooo!!! he/she cannot and will not pull you over if you're going the speed limit! Unless you feel super guilty about something you're either hiding in your car that if he/she were to pull you over wouldn't like, or if you're speeding a lot or talking on your phone- I can assure you they won't pull you over. Even if you're doing I don't know 3 or 4 mph over the speed limit, I highly doubt they will...no police officer would want to waste their time doing silly paper work for someone going 3 mph over the speed limit. Also, txting when driving or talking on your cellphone when driving...we're all guilty of it I'm sure. I know I am, but the thing is, (and not sure if I should be proud of this) I'm good at it. I can text and not look at all, maybe just glance once or twice. (And for the record I don't text when I have other people in the car). It just seems like 99% of the time, when you get stuck behind someone there either A: really old or B: txting when driving or talking on their cellphone( and are middle age) and maybe its just an assumption, because people around the age of 50 years old, just aren't as tech savvy as us...but anyway...its just really, really annoying. They think our generation is messed up and 'screwed', but their the ones in the left lane chatting away on their cellphones, about who know's what, doing 55 mph. I'm not sure if you're trying to get us NJ folk to slow down in life and not be in a rush, or just annoying every last ounce of us. Whichever it is, please stop. If you absolutely HAVE to talk to whomever-pull over, or stay in the right lane (the one for the people who want to do 65, or in your case 55). Which brings me to my last and final point, if you have to txt and drive or call and drive fine...but the only time I deem it okay is if 1. you're really good at it, and can still abide by the law and rules of the road 2. if you do not have anyone else in the car or 3. If you're not holding up traffic or slamming on your breaks every 10 seconds because you're not paying attention.
Hopefully one day everything will be so technological that every person will have a car that is linked to their phone and they can talk-text or just talk out loud in their cars.
So here's to hoping, we're all safe, and stop using our cellphones when driving! Its a good goal right?? because it is very unsafe, but I do admit I am part of this 21% in this article:

Be Safe!
great post! i could go on and on myself about drivers in jersey. can't stand them...but turns out i'm one of them. regarding the texting while driving...i fall guilty to that too. i have to say i'm pretty skilled, but when i see my younger sister text and drive i'd rather jump out of the car. def something i need to stop...now.
ReplyDeletehaha so true! i feel like if i'm in the car with someone else txting and driving i feel so unsafe and would rather jump out of the car! but if its me and i'm alone or with someone in particular its okay. I dont know why we all know its so bad and still do it lol maybe someday...
ReplyDeleteEven better are the people who slow down for a cop who ALREADY have someone pulled over. What police officer is just going to ditch the person they're with to come get you?
ReplyDeletehahaha yes!! that annoys me so much!! they're either being super nosey or are so terrified of getting a ticket!...like the cop would really love the person he/she pulled over to begin with...lol
